Wholesale Minimum Order Explained

Short answer: $5,000 is the threshold that unlocks wholesale pricing, and it applies to the order as a whole — never to each product. You build it from as many different products as you like, at whatever quantity suits you on each. An order below $5,000 cannot be placed on the site, but it can still be arranged; see below.

“$5,000 sounds like a lot for a small shop”

It is the most common thing we hear, and it usually comes from reading the number as a commitment to one product. It is not. A small independent reseller normally reaches $5,000 across eight to fifteen different items, most of them in modest quantities, and often three or four of them things they already sell every week.

Put the other way round: if you already turn over roughly $1,500–$2,000 a month in retail, a $5,000 wholesale order is usually somewhere between six and ten weeks of stock — not a leap, just a bigger single purchase than you are used to making at once.

What a $5,000 order actually looks like

There is no fixed shape, but the orders that work tend to look like this:

  • Roughly two thirds in products you have already sold. This is the part you can forecast. It pays the order back.
  • Roughly one third in new items you want to test. Small quantities, several of them, so one bad pick costs you very little.
  • Spread across categories, not concentrated in one. Household and personal care sell steadily; perfume and beauty carry higher margin; toys and sealed trading cards move seasonally and around releases; pet and grocery repeat. A mix of those behaves far better than $5,000 of any one of them.

The mistake that costs small buyers the most

Going deep on one untested product because the unit price looked good at volume. A better unit price on something that does not sell is the most expensive stock in the shop. On a first order, breadth beats depth every time — you are buying information about your own customers as much as you are buying goods.

Buy shallow, record what sells in the first month, then go deep on the two or three winners on your second order. That is the whole method.

What $5,000 ties up, honestly

It ties up cash until the stock sells, and that is a real cost. What you get for it is the wholesale price instead of the retail-adjacent price, one freight cost instead of several, and one set of paperwork. If your shelves are already turning what you have, that trade is usually worth it. If they are not, a bigger order will not fix it, and we would rather tell you that than take the order.

Buying below $5,000

An order under $5,000 cannot be completed on the site, but it is not a closed door. Tell our team the products and quantities you want by email or WhatsApp chat, and we will look at it with you and confirm what can be arranged. We never sell retail quantities or single units — that rule does not bend — but a smaller trade order is a conversation, not a refusal.

Minimum quantities on a specific product, and bulk discounts

Each product carries its own minimum quantity, shown on its page above the Add to cart button. Those minimums move with manufacturer case packs and with availability, which is why we do not publish a fixed table of them. Who this suits

How an order runs

  1. Register a wholesale account and upload your EIN and resale certificate. Have both ready; this is the step that most often delays a first order.
  2. Build the order to $5,000 or more, mixing freely.
  3. Pay by ACH bank transfer, which is our recommended method. Wire transfer and card payment through Plastiq are available on request — see our payment policy.
  4. Stock is despatched 3–5 business days after payment clears, with tracking.

Is the $5,000 per product or per order?

Per order, always. Mix as many different products as you like to reach it.

Can I choose my own quantities?

Yes, above each product’s own minimum quantity. Nothing forces you to take equal amounts of anything.

Do you sell to individuals?

No. Wholesale accounts are for businesses buying for resale, and we do not sell retail or single units.

Is there a maximum?

No. Larger orders are quoted against the order, and for pallet or container volumes our team will talk freight with you before you commit.

I am brand new. What should a first order be?

The smallest order that clears $5,000, spread across as many products as you can sensibly stock. Prove your own sell-through first; depth comes second.

Where do I ask about a minimum quantity or a bulk discount?
